How do you detect the AutoCAD version?
Every DWG file starts with a 6-character code that identifies the AutoCAD release it was saved from (for example AC1027 for AutoCAD 2013–2017). This tool reads that code directly — it is not a guess.
What does "unrecognized" mean?
The file has a genuine DWG signature, but its specific version code isn't one of the published AutoCAD release codes this tool checks against — this can happen with very new or unusual DWG variants.
